the tides have become irritable

imploding the beaches

with bitter force

and the wolves are howling

in higher tones than usual

all the caterpillars have gathered

in a new ritual dance

on the hibiscus plants

now the flamingos seem

to be dancing the limbo

as they contemplate how

the stranger moon

is offsetting the mood

of every living thing

it’s so far outside of the norm

that the silent jellyfish now sings

calling the stranger moon

to come back again

come back very soon

to offset life as we know it to be

because although things are in front of us

we still can’t see

we don’t appreciate

what we should hold dear

we don’t see in front of us

even though it’s very clear
