Symphony of Harmony excerpts by Kehinde Dare

THE SONG OF NIGHTINGALES

     The chorus marries the ears.

The song of praise is a

     Choirmaster's delight.

It is a soul-lifter that had

     the approval of celestial

     Angels.

     The lyrics of Nightingales

     travelled from Alto, Clef,

     Stave and tenor like

     dancing waves.

It is a reminder of Henry Dyke's

     masterpiece:

    "By the Breadth of

the blue that shines in silence o' me"

MY FATHER'S HOUSE

   An eerie feeling

   enveloped me.

   A creepy sensation

   ran through my spine

   like electric circuit

   as l stepped into the

   familiar house, now

   a deserted weed-grown

   abode without inhabitants.

   The cave-in graves littered

   the exterior curtilage, the

   ancient graves in need of

   family's care.

   Welcome to my father's

   house.

RAINFALL

From our little hut we hear

the screaming wind bellows.

Beating the roof top.

Uprooting, mighty Iroko tree.

My mind jumped to my mouth,

when I behold the maiden sky

soiled with black cloud

turning the day into twilight.

Ricocheted wind threw.

Sand and sound at us.

Sky flashed, thunder beat

his riling drum,

heaven opened his water door,

throwing down rainfall.

Riling rain reverberated as

If the world is at

war with him.
