A cricket skips

on thin leaves

of green grass

on its way

to the foliage

of my garden

as lights

in the summer night make

a false start

in the evening sunset.

I know:

tonight,

it will join

its kin

to serenade me

with lullabies

and ballads

of past, even present

pains, sorrows,

and sins,

hopes, dreams,

and desires,

nursing my soul

until I

can

begin

afresh,

afresh,

afresh,

afresh.
