An Urban Melodrama

San Lin Tun

by San Lin Tun

i.

Sunlight on windows of a lofty building,

Reflecting, diffusing; every glance catches it,

Blink, blink, blink, pronto ---

Vision became blurry.

ii.

Pausing midway, an urbanite standing still, motionless,

Unknowingly blocking a hustling public passage,

A rushing passer-by bumped into him, almost tripped him over,

Leaving, saying without an apology.

iii.

The victim gritted his teeth, swallowing surging anger,

Tightened his fist, cursed the man’s incivility,

Being ready to charge upon his assailant, who swiftly disappeared

From the visual frame of his sight.

iv.

The victim cursed his helpless situation; again, casting a glance

At the sunlight on previous windows,

Beholding the smirk within the frame of them,

Mocked his humility blatantly.

v.

Reflection went off and on, emitting from the windows,

His vision became unclear,

While other pedestrians hurriedly

Walked past by him, being unaware of his sheer vagaries.
